As part of Short Waves Showcase, organized by our partner AD ARTE – Fundacja Edukacji Kulturalnej, a project focused on audience development will be launched. Its goal is to connect short film creators with audiences as well as both professional and general public. The project will be based on several key activities, including a dedicated focus group, a workshop for short-format creators, and educational activities for the audience.
Workshop "Understanding your audience" is intended for filmmakers who are working or starting to work on their projects and want to learn practical methods for effectively communicating about their films, better defining their audience, and exploring different approaches to promoting short films. Participants will have a unique opportunity to learn how to identify and address their target audience and tailor the visual presentation of their work.
Focus Group "Insights into Audience Perception" is aimed at viewers, industry professionals, and cultural workers. During the meeting, we will focus on analyzing audience expectations, the impact of marketing on film reception, and communication strategies. Discussions with filmmakers will not only concern the films themselves, but also promotional materials such as trailers and posters. The focus group is intended for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and skills in the area of conscious communication strategy development and understanding the needs of film culture consumers.
Both workshop and focus group will be led by Daniel Vadocky, an expert with many years of experience in film programming, sales, and distribution, who also serves as sales manager for Pluto Film in Germany.
The project thus contributes not only to the development of the creators themselves, but also to that of the audience. It encourages viewers to reflect on their perception of audiovisual content, analyze the impact of promotion, and better express their experiences and expectations.
The project is co-financed by the governments of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia through Visegrad Grants from the International Visegrad Fund. The mission of the fund is to advance ideas for sustainable regional cooperation in Central Europe.
