On the first Sunday of Advent, we welcomed the pre-premiere of the Ukrainian absurdist comedy Redakce, which was accompanied by a delicious brunch. While on screen, young natural scientist Jura embarked on a career in journalism in an effort to uncover the truth and fight corruption, viewers at Kino Kavalírka enjoyed a brunch inspired by Ukrainian cuisine, including syrniki, vareniki, and bottomless apple mimosa.
The pre-premiere concluded with a discussion with Dominika Perlínová, editor of Respekt magazine, who spoke about the structure of the media environment in Ukraine, investigative journalism, and comparisons between Czech and foreign media, placing the film's themes in a real-world context based on her professional experience.
